Is there any way to keep an air hose clean. It seems my hose gets so greasy after using it.. I dont think my floor is that bad.. I've cleaned it with cleaner a couple of times but only stays clean a short while.. Each time I roll the hose back up, I have to wash my hands of grease or oil.. Thanks.. This may sound like a dumb question, but I hope there is a solution.. It is a fairly new hose too.. Thanks again..

The air hose on my service truck, besides being outside 365 days a year, routinely gets pulled in and over machines and winds up covered in everything from grease to open gear lube. I've found the best thing to clean it is simply to use the same thing I do on my hands. That cleaner being the citrus lotion, without pumice, sold through NAPA. Now when it's nasty with something like open gear lube, I use a rag soaked in brake cleaner and then follow up with another using the hand cleaner. The hose on my last truck was in use nearly every day for over 6 years and was still like new when we upgraded to a newer truck. The one on the new truck is 4 going on 5 and it's still like new also.

I just use a dry rag wraped around the hose while I roll the hose up.

I found that my plastic hose will stay cleaner than rubber. Wipe with simple green and they clean right up. The other way around...Harbor freight has specials on Good Year hose, rubber, in black. I leave these laying out in the yard and they wash themselves. He he he They are very nice hoeses for $18.oo at 50ft when on special.

There's really no way to keep a hose clean even on a painted floor. What I do is to take a rag with simple green or 409 on it and run the hose through it as it's reeled back in. Be careful what you use to clean the air hose as brake clean and other solvent based cleaners will make a hose rock hard in no time. Perservatives like armourall are dirt magnets.

when I worked in the truckstop we used a rag with mineral spirits(parts cleaner) on our hoses
