Miller welder won`t start

OK all you mechanics tell what went wrong. Fired
up welder, run long enough for me to cut a 2 inch pipe with chop saw then died. Would not restart, checked and getting gas to carb, checked plug good and good spark. Cranked over several times without plug installed, reinstalled plug fired right up and ran all afternoon with no problem. I don`t have any idea why it died to began with, and why it would not restart. Your input appreciated.

A lot depends on what model. If it has electronic ignition, it could be the control module or watever the engine maker calls it.
My Lincoln Ranger would sometines not start and would sometimes just quit. I finaly changed the trigger module, after several other parts, and the problem went away. It had an Onan engine by the way.

What Miller welder? My old neighbors Big 40 would start and run ok and then wouldn't even rev up. It needed a new distributor cap and rotor. Check the points also if it has them. Dave

you dident say if it is one or two cyl if one cyl i would think it picked up a peace of carbon in electrode of plug its common if engine is using a little oil
