7 years ago I left my old shop vac at my old house when I sold it....Accidently. Off and on over the years I wanted to buy one but not the big 15 gallon kind...too big. But I got the 1 gallon with a 5.5amp motor 1HP. $30 at my local hardware/lumber do-it-best. Sad note too, my local do-it-best stores (5 in all) are closing, economy is in bad shape here in Michigan. I guess next week is the clearance sale. 112 employees at 5 stores are out of jobs, I told the guy to go to Home Depot, never see them closing stores.

When doing electrical and plumbing type work, of anything where hardware is needed, I have found the the small hardware stores have a dozen of everything you need, and the big box stores (Home Chepo and Too Lowe"s in my case) have 100 of half of what you need. Frustrating as he11

Closing the do-it-best stores? I used to work at one on the Western side of Flint, MI. That's sad, really... the good ol' hardware store is going by the wayside. However, if you still want a taste of that old hardware store vibe, you just have to check out Casler's hardware in downtown Jackson, MI. TOTALLY cool!

I guess these stores are closing due to the mega-low cost Home depots and Lowes. But my local hardware store was very competitive on price and better quality lumber then Home depot. I know that Central michigan lumber (5 locations I think) are the best in price and quality from what I am told.
