Hi, I have a B&D cordless with the HPB12 12V battery and would like to know if there's a charger for this battery? The guy I bought this from didn't have one, I love the drill but the battery just died. The battery is $35 on Amazon (best price I found) but I'd rather recharge than buy a new one every time it runs down.

Opinions? Advice?

Thanks,
Ruth

Read the info on the bottom of the battery. It should say the model number of the charger to use. Amazon has one of the multi chargers for $24.32. Too bad. If the price was $25.01 they'd ship it for free. You might want an extra battery, but they don't qualify for free shipping. They also have a 12 volt charger for $17. Check it out and see if it's the one you need. EBay has the multi chargers for around $30-35 with shipping. There may be 12v chargers available, too.

Imagine that, a cordless battery. I wonder where one could find a battery with a cord. Just too hard to resist.

Don't know if I got the address right. If not,The charger you would be looking for would be Model FSMVC 9.6-18v Multi Voltage Fast Charger.

George, thanks, that looks like what I need. Now I'm debating about having my battery rebuilt. (WOW, for my drill!) I got a suggestion (email) there are places that rebuild batteries a lot cheaper than a new one or even a charger. Do you know anything about that? I'm not trying to be cheap, I'm trying to get as much life for my drill even if I have to buy a spare battery, I just love that tool.

If your battery won't take a charge, then maybe it could be rebuilt. A battery will only last a couple of hour's of use, then have to be recharged. If you start sending it out for a rebuild every time it dies. It's going to get real expensive, real fast.
