I recently bought a 67 ford 4500 ind. tlb. i found a plug on the right hand side of each the tranny and the rearend, but do not know if it is how you check the oil or what oil to put in. also on the drivers side of the tranny there is a screw off cap that looks like it should have a dipstick in it but it doesnt, its packed with grease. any suggestions?>

Hi,
I just changed all the fluids in my 4500. In the final drive I used hyd-trans fluid from TSC. The drain plug is in the center of the axle housing. The check plug on mine is on the left side below the seat. The transmission has a separate reservoir. I used 90wt. gear oil from TSC listed for Ford transmissions.

You should post your message under the crawler forum. There are a lot of knowledgable people on there. Dave
