Lighting Ideas for New Shop?

Hello I am Building a new Shop but I am having trouble deciding what to use for Lights. My old Shop has 2 400 watt Metal Halide. but they leave to many shadows. I have been doing some reading on T8 HO Floresences. Seams like I may go that route. Shop is aprox 15ft high 36 wide 60 ft long I was thinking of 2 rows Spaced 11 Foot off of side walls. anyone have any Ideas on this subject? Thanks in advance.

I used the 8 foot long T8 fixtures from Home Depot. Six fixtures worked out well in my 30x40 ft shop. I agree with George that they need to be fairly close to the walls; mine are 7-1/2 feet from the wall and that works OK.

I haven't had any problems with these lights starting in cold weather, but I did augment them with some halogen lights for when it's cold and I don't want to wait for the fluorescents to warm up. It takes a minute or two for the fluorescents to get fully bright when it's down around 32F.

Oak,

Need 3 rows with the outside rows not more than

3 feet from wall or you will have shadows on the

lower part of the wall or bench. Space the lights

several feet apart length ways but start the row

close to the end walls . 2 ft on each end with

4 ft between each of the 5 lights will work well.

brother just put in floresences that are new technogly I think . They are 4' t -5 bulbs 6 bulbs per fixture suposed to put out twice the light of 400 w metal halide at half the cost to run .they seam real bright and he is real happy with them at this time .More informatin look at pro lighting .com
