i would like to make a air compressor or air pump from a 360 ford engine. has anyone any experiance,advice or sugestions. thank you

Yeah, seen one once. I forget which engine it was made fron though. It was a two stage unit set up as five low side and three high side cylinders (a V-8) and did quite a job. It had a heat exchanger (radiator) that was half for the block cooling and half for interstage air cooling. Don't have the slightest idea what it cost.

It's more common to use the engine block for a vacuum pump from what I've seen.

Either way it could get expensive to do the job correctly.

The Ford V8 compressors are SmithAir's , Out of Bowling Green , Kentucky . They are popular with rental yards, check around and see if some one rents them around yo and take a look....

I rented a pneumatic jackhammer about 10 years ago that was powered by a Ford V8 which used one bank as the engine for power, and the other bank of cylinders for the air compressor. I would suppose that conversion parts are available somewhere!

I,m building my own compressor from a 2.9 ford now. Ive seen others recently and I,m on the right track. I need alot of air. I,m not scared at all to continue this project. although money is tight
