Power washer question

My dad has a 6hp Generac power washer but can't get the soap pickup hose to work. It sprays fine but hasn't ever picked up anything. Any ideas what to look for? I've got it here at my house and told him I'd see if I could get it to work for him.

I guess you guys know that the washer will only suck soap using the low pressure nozzle..... then go back over your work with a turbo nozzel..... .

I think I've got a similiar pressure washer with 5.5. briggs...It doesn't draw well either...I've had so so results...I did buy a kit at northern with had a turbo nozzle and like 5 other nozzles...the soap nozzle sometimes will draw at real low rpms...I think the fellow who chimed in with the upstream adapter is your best bet...I've pretty much given up on mine as far as soaping..deanop

Not sure if you want one but they do make an adapter to allow for soap at high pressure too.

Not familer with yours but on my washer you have to pull out on the end of the wand. This puts it in a low pressure spray mode. It has less pressure but more water volume. Somhow this lets it suck soap into the tube. It pulls in slow but the soap will eventually draw up the tube into the low pressure spray. In other words in high pressure mode it won't pull soap.

They will only draw soap if you have the low pressure tip on the end of the gun, or have the adjustable nozzle turned to low pressure

Thanks guys, I'll take a look at it. I know I can turn it to change from a fan spray to a sharp (very hard) stream. I'll see if I can pull it out.

On the same machine, there's a big knob with a spring on it on the pump. What does it do? Does it regulate the pressure or flow on the pump? It looks like it's screwed all the way in right now.

That knob is the pressure adjustment. Is there another small knob to turn for soap? Just a thought. Good luck. Dave

It worked, sorta. In the low pressure mode it did suck the soap out of the bucket. There's no adjustment for the line that goes into the bucket. I mixed a cup of laundry soap with about a half gallon of water, that wasn't enough apparently, it gets pretty diluted with the water from the hose. It's not exactly like a car wash, but it did a pretty fair job on the siding. I'll have to experiment with the soap, what do you guys use???

I haven't found an adjustment for soap, but I'm going to find that low pressure mode today if I can! I assumed that big knob was an adjustment for the pressure, I'll look around to see if there's another ajdustment for soap but I don't think there is one.

I found it's also deadly on wasp nests - I guess it's true what they say about boys and their toys, this thing is pretty cool. First I'm going to attack the siding on the house then maybe my dirty truck.
