Mariner isn't an old brand. It's one Mercury's many lines. Just call your local Mercury outboard deal and ask him. I'd say it's probably 50:1 if it's like most Mariners, but could a lower ratio.

Hi hillbilly, The oil, and not the engine, determines the oil/gas ratio. Old 16:1 2-cycle engines run and last perfectly well using newer high ratio oils. The only exceptions to that are engines(normally older ones) that have a bushing somewhere(usually wrist pin and/or flywheel end main bearing) rather than all ball, roller, and needle bearings. If yours is one of the exceptions use a traditional 16:1 mixing ratio with a traditional 16:1 2-cycle oil. Finally, unless you're racing a 2-cycle, the disadvantages of synthetic 2-cycle oil outweigh the benefits. Good luck...Al

I know nothing about that motor, but 2-cycle oil at 40:1 would probably work fine. Older oils were used at up to 16:1, but with the newer oils you don't need that much. Try these guys:
