Avoid all oilless Costco DeVilbiss's. They are junk. They are also nowhere near 6.5 hp either. Real DeVilbiss's are called DevAir's now, and command real $$$. The CH is probably a 3.5 hp, but it is still a much better machine. (The Costco is probably a 2hp really.) 1 horsepower = 746 watts. Watts = Volts X Amps. Even if there was such a thing as a 6.5 or 7 horsepower motor, you can bet your butt that the pumps are drawing a lot less than that out of the motors to be able to function on household electrical service. I have never seen a motor sized between 5 hp and 7.5 hp. If you look, I bet the "hp" rating will say SPL or some other cryptic nonsense. How many 50 Amp breakers do you have in your box at home? Check the CFM rating at 100 psi. If your are getting a lot less than 4 cfm per HP, you know you are being lied to. Ps: I was a compressor mechanic for the best part of the '90s, every type and make you can think of, from 1/2 to 300 hp (horsepower). :-) Roger, Edmonton AB.
