OT: Pellet stove cleaning questions for you guys

I fired up my pellet stove for the first time yesterday. I let it run for about 4 hours last nite. How often do I vacuum out the chamber, burn pot, and hopper? I used about a 1/2 of a 5 gallon bucket in 4 hours. (I used pellets not corn last nite)

I check the firepot about twice a day, use a fireplace scoop to move the ashes to the side storage areas. About once a week when the side storage areas get full, get out the shop vac. CAUTION- shut the stove off & wait at least an hour before vaccuuming out the ashes. A spark will start the vac filter on fire. You will know this has happened when smoke starts coming out the vac vents. Don't ask how I learned this.

Yup, stove is on 24/7. has 9 heat settings. Run on 3 or 4 most of the time, but when NW wind blows off lake, have to boost to 7. use ceiling fans to help circulate. Burn about 200 bags a season.

We leave our's on 24/7 home or not.
Clean the pot every couple of days.
Use about 40 pounds a day. Stove has five settings, run it on 2 when cold and 3 when it's real cold.
