A 12" face cord goes for about $120 here in Toronto (Ontario). Lots of free wood around if you keep your eyes open. Have a couple of pallet repair places close by that often have oak or maple pallet 4 X 4"s out at the street for free. Just need to be cut in half and ready for the stove. Gas stations sell small bags of firewood for outragious prices also. You have to go about 100 miles north of the city to get it reasonably or buy it delivered by the trailer load (logs).

Here in the sticks of KY it sells for about $75 per pickup thrown in load split mixes oak and cherry mostly. If I haul some 30 miles to Lexington I can sell that load for at least $150 more if I slipt it in half. The city folks will pay big bucks for fireplace wood. Convenience stores in Lexington sell clear wrapped bundles of slpit oak about 18" in diameter for $8-9.

I just saw a guy selling firewood along the road. Actually a single row of firewood stacked 4-5 feet high between two upright T-posts, maybe 8 feet apart. His sign read $50.00 each "stack". Looked like it was 16-18" cut. There it was - cut split and stacked - so what you see is what you get for the $50.

Well, I just purchased one and a half cords of dry oak for $185 delivered. According to you guys that is dirt cheap. But you have got remember this is in West Virginia. Oak here is like wheat in Kansas, it is everywhere.

Wow, I should start buying cordwood from the guys around here and trucking it around the country. I am in north central ohio and folks around here advertise 100$ - 120$ a cord ( all hardwood ) delivered.

There is a huge place down the road that does tree clearing for the state and my neighbor told me they will sell you a semi load of logs for 250$. I would assume you are looking at 15 - 20 cords of wood. If didn't have 21 acres of woods I would take them up on there offer.

Ok, so to clear up my head on this, are we talking a full cord of wood that measures 4'x4'x8'? Does anyone sell wood by the face cord?

In Nova Scotia, Canada, the price varies, but in my area it's about $200. per cord. ( cut, split and delievered).

Selling? Right now, our county is under quarantine because they found 1 emerald ash bug in the extreme corner of the county. There is a $4000 fine for going over the county line with firewood, any wood, even if there is no ash involved, and I would be fairly sure the local constabulary gets a big enough cut of that pie to get out there and protect us.
I sure can't afford to contribute, so am sort of out of business for a while. The state is sending someone out to "certify" us next week. I have sold firewood for almost 40 years, but it looks like time for a change??!!
Michigan and northern Ohio have been dealing with this pest for a while, what is the impact on wood producers up there?
Prior to all this, a cord of good wood was selling for $150 to $200. Hard to find anybody that gives true measurement anymore, though. You can get some real extreme hosings buying firewood!

Green 4' at $160 a cord in Downeast Maine.

You can't afford dry, split stove-length stuff, it'd be cheaper to heat with oil.

I got 8 cords of green tree length @ $140 last February, which is now seasoned stove length and sitting in my woodshed....

I pass a sign regularly on Route 20 in Worcester, MA that's a local tree company advertising it at $225/cord. Considering they've been paid once to take the wood, I kind of chuckle at the profit margin :)

Locally, I'd be surprised to find anything seasoned, cut, split, and delivered for less than $175.

My friends get one ~1/4 cord (what fits comfortably in my Ranger) delivery a year for free. I call it yard waste :)
