How is best way to get rust out of an old, metal tank? Also have heard there is a liquid, two-part, coating somewhat like epoxy that can be mixed in the tank after it is cleaned that will prevent any more rust from releasing. Thanks,

Hey Fergyman,
I've used a tank cleaner/sealer called Kreem on two different tanks, had good luck both times. Got it from a motorcycle shop. They use it on old motorcycle tanks. Not an easy, 30-minute job, but works well.

hi you want to know how to clean your tank purchase that POR 15 kit it gets rid of all the old gum in the tank then cleans the rust out and then coats the tank takes about 2 days to do it right but it works good oh yes one thing when you put the tank sealer in the tank be sure to wear gloves as the paint sticks to your skin and you cant get it off i was known as the black hand man for about 2 weeks good luck

One way to clean the scale out of a gas tank is to put a short section of chain or a whole mess of bolts and or nuts and shake vigorously if you have access to a barrel tumbler you might try straping it to one and let it go for a half hour.
also there is a tank sealing chemical called POR-15 you should be able to get that at your local auto parts store.
Good luck Jim K
