Considering some options: Can anyone provide me with information about hydraulic PTO pumps. I have a hydraulic three point wood splitter I have been running on auxillary remotes, but am considering using another tractor without remotes. I don"t know anything about these, resevoirs needed, etc. Any comments greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Bill

A 8hp briggs and a 2 stage pump would be cheaper and cost less to operate .

I built one up using a Farm Hand pump and reservoir from a Farmhand F10 loader. I made some brackets on the I-beam for the reservoir to mount to.

Hydraulic reservoirs should be about twice as many gallons as the GPM of your pump. The main reason for the capacity is to keep the system from overheating. Generally the system consists of the reservoir, pump, pressure relief, valve(s), filter, and back to the reservoir with whatever hoses or piping needed to hook up those items. The pressure relief is most commonly part of the valve assembly.
