My wife and i would like to buy a stove to burn corn and wood pellets. We have been looking at a American Harvest Multifuel heater. Some have told me they are no good, and others say they a good. Can you tell me anything about them. What is a good stove to burn corn and wood pellets??

Thanks

Greenbeanman is right. It does have to be plugged in to work. Mine is an older style without the ash stirrer so it takes a little less juice. I put a clamp-on amp meter on it and with the blower set to medium figure it takes about 22 to 25 dollars a month at 11 cents a KWH. The blower on my forced air furnace also adds to my electric bill, but I'm not sure how much. Look at Link This guy has figured the cost of various fuels and figured in that some types of fuels are more efficent to burn.

I have one from American Harvest & I would buy another.Bought it last year from Fleet Farm.Actually,my brother and I bought one at the same time.I see the same model this year has draft control and easy dump ash doors which empty into lower ash pan.
They"re a good unit for the $

While I have no knowledge of the particular stove brand you mentioned, recently I looked at other multi-fuel stoves that burned wood pellets, corn, and cereal grains. Since corn is an iffy crop where I live I liked the idea of burning cereal grains instead.

What I found was that to support combustion and exhaust a blower is used. The entire stoves electrical needs indicated 400 watts.

Hm, do I really want to add about 30 per month to my electrical bill? I think not. I"m still looking.

What I"m saying is to look at the entire picture, not just what is on the surface, i.e. fuel savings.
