Grease Gun Fix

I have a grease gun I really like but the female pipe threads on the gun are worn and stripped and so the pipe virtually falls out.

Is there a 1/8" pipe thread helicoil product to fix that? Or should I just try a new pipe and load up the threads with some form of loctite or similar product.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Larry

Simple fix, 1.Clean up female threads and use something like paint thinner or simular product that will dissolve and then dry out. 2.Chase the female threads,if you do not have a tap and die set,the right size tap can be purchased at your favorite hardware store, wally world or your friend might have one. 3. Get a new pipe. 4. JB weld, mix properly and apply to male threads with tiny brush. Apply a little heavy away from pipe hole, it will not go in the hole, as you screw it in the JB will push out. Any excess will be on the outside and you can just wipe it off before it cures. 5. 48 hours cure time.

i would put some jb weld on it, but make shure you put a dab of grease on the end of the pipe in case some jb works its way down and closes your pipe up , otherwise you may end up with apaper weight..

If there is no check valve at the base, I have drilled and taped for a 1/4 pipe adapter. Have also used a loctite product (make a thread or form a thread ??? ) to repair other items.

You don't have much to lose by cleaning both parts up clean and oil-free, and then assembling it with either high-strength Loctite, or epoxy (such as JB Weld),in the threads, and allowing it to cure at least overnight.

Maybe if there is enough metal you could tap it the nixt size and put a bushing in it.

I'm as cheap as the next guy but 2 hours for shopping, $40 for helicoil kit, $10 shipping, 30 min. repairing, 5 min. swearing. Buy a new one.
