I was wondering it anyone has made their own engine cooker.I just paid 70 dollars to have a block cooked at the local machine shop.I know that one can make their own cooker because years ago,I worked for an old mechanic that had his own cooker and he added lye to the water ever so often.I thought about using a 55 gal.barrel bottom with a burner under the bottom, but thought about getting different ideas also.

Old black mechanic where I worked as a kid made one from a piece of 36" in steel pipe with 4 3x3 angle legs on it and a cut off piece of 55 gal drum ( bout 6 in I think) under it with diesel in it was his burner...was ugly but seemed to work just fine
