I had posted this earlier but I don't see it showing up.So I'm trying again. I have an OLD air compressor the only name I can find on it is SUNROC. The compressor got turned over in my truck and all the oil has leaked out of both cylinders. What type of oil do I refill it with and how much? I can send pics if anyone would need to look at it. PLEASE HELP! Thanks in advance!

With any air compressor, it is important to use an oil specifically designed to handle the heat of compression of an air compressor. Call a local compressor repair center- if you use standard motor oil, the high heat will cause premature failure.

I am using a synthetic motor oil. My wiring to the building is a little light and the synthetic turns over a little easier when cold. The fuse doesn't blow as often now. It is a "Rated 5hp" Sanborn. Talk to the guy at Napa like I did and see what other people are using.

How much oil do I add? It looks like the cylinders have a "sump" in the bottom. Should I just fill that? Or fill up to the fill-hole?

You are getting alot of varied suggestions, but actually all are correct. Home Depot or Tractor Supply will have Ingersoll-Rand compressor oil, and it is certainly suitable for almost any oil filled portable compressor, my old Craftsman iron pump portable called for 30 wt non-degertent oil, I ran it for years on Mobil I and it worked fine. My three year old Husky (Cambell-Hausfeld) iron pump stationary compressor called for 5w-30 Mobil I for warranty. Take your pick.
