I am thinking about buying me a new one. I want a wheel barrow style 5.5 honda. I have looked at dewalt ridgid ingersoll-rand and northstar (northern tool). I dont really like the nortstars, they seem cheap. I like the ingersoll- rand but dont know about service in my area. Same with ridgid. the dewalt i can easily find parts fors. The motors are all the same, so who would have the better pump? I know the dewalt uses disk valves, and head unloaders. The ingersoll-rand i cant find much info on the pump, as to waht kind of valves and it looks like the other style unloder.. What are the pros and cons of disc valves and head unloaders? What kind of valves do the ir use?? Then theres ridgid, which i would bet is campbell hausendfeld, which should be a pretty good pump??? The ridgid is 699 the dealt is 799 and the ir is 839.. Any body give me any advice on these mentioned compressors? Pros and cons of them? I am tired of my rattly trap titan and want sumthin that isnt going to rattle itself apart and my truck when i run it in there.. So any input? Is the compressor genuis roger still hanging around? He knew his stuff..

Might as well go for the Jenny then. It looks like the original, so why take the chance? Looks like a nice compressor.

since dewalt went mexico in reply to chris smith, 09-22-2006 17:00:12
is the quality going to be as good? Jenny products is selling almost exact copies of the old emglos. Would there quality be any better? And one more question, whats your opinion on the four cylinder single stage pumps? It is looking like the dewalt is going to be hard to find, so i might consider ordering a jenny if it comes down to finding what i want.. So any input on dewalt and jenny quality? And on the four cylinder single stage pump..

From briefly perusing the three manufactureres offerings, I'd say the DeWalt has the best pump hands down, as it looks like they are using the previous Emglo KU pumps, which are far, far better than the Balma pumps on the NorthStar machine. The CH pump on the Ridgid is ok, but not as good as the DeWalt unit. The IR pump is ok, but it has had it's fair share of crankshaft failures from what I've seen at my old shop. The DeWalt will have proper head unloaders built right into the pump, allowing the pump to unload properly and freewheel, rather than spitting out air from a dump valve like the others. This is a quieter and more durable solution.

No idea. Never heard of it before. Give it a closer inspection.
