I loaned a HarborFreight 4"x6" cheapie to a friend who managed to drop off the back of his truck returning it. Didn't know how far he dragged it but it's terminal. It was ok but replacement will be larger. That $120 saw is now $200. I was hoping for Ebay to come through but I'm not very close to Michigan or New York. Big question is how much bigger. My old one cut dry. I notice all bigger cut wet. I'm thinking I don't want more than 500 lbs. of saw and preferably less. Clearly, larger wheels would be a great advantage. I don't think there's much chance of finding a used one locally. My catalogs indicate I need to go $700-800 at least. Any ideas?

Ellis makes several mobile, mitering horizontal bandsaws, that flip up for use as a verticle saw. Very happy with mine.

You might want to take a look at Grizzly, darn good machines for the money. They have a store in Williamsport, Pa, and often have scratch & dent sales at big reductions.
Another good place to look is Enco Tool.
