Guy I bought a plow truck with Meyer setup said to use Meyer fluid only....any truth to that?
And what is the best way to flush the angle cylinders/lines?

The reason for using only Meyers fluid is that the fluid is lower viscosity than ATF or hyd fluid and will flow better at extremely low(below 0) temperatures and it also has a sort of antifreeze in it so moisture (condensation and water that comes in the breather)in the fliud wont freeze up. That being said there are "generic " plow fluids with thew same properties that should work fine. I reccomend againt ATF or tractor hyd fluid in an electric/hydraulic plow unit unless it is reccomended by the manufacturer for the reasons above , unless you only plow a little (like your own driveway and 1 or 2 more) AND keep the plow truck under cover when not in use.You"d be surprised how little water it takes to screw up these systems and it is impossible to keep it 100% out.

had nothin but problems in the extreme cold with meyers oil due to freeze up...the cheap stuff works good..on my old plow i used regular hytran and it worked..don't know if id recommend to you though...

I service and repair several Meyers and Western plows and have always used DEXRON II,III or the newer DEXRON/MERCON in them with no problems. We change the oil annually. Here in Sunny Southern Arizona these plows are used for storm patrol to clear mud,rocks and debris from the roadway after storms mainly in the mountains. They have used them for some mainline plowing in emergencies.

I was told by rebuilder of Monarch plow lifts to use Dextron in mine. Works fine!

According to my Meyer service manual you can flush the system with keroosene as for fluid I always use the meyers stuff
