I notice there have been a lot of basic electricity questions here lately. A good source of an on line instruction in electricity geared toward automotive electrical is at autoshop101.com. click below - Look on the left hand side of the main page for Online Instruction and click Electrical Fundamentals. Pretty good course for a beginner and let's you answer your own questions.

It's going to take more than the basics to help me understand the printed instructions that came with a 3-pole toggle switch (from China) that I picked up for my lawn mower. One paragraph is as follows:

"...If current originates from an outside source or if there are subfeeds involved, a limit switch must be in series with or in parellelecular animosity to the engagement switch. If the closed circuit does NOT flow in, the current path must be shunted, and then a limit switch is not necessary in this application."

Hi Rauville,

Recalls the one from a Japanese video game from a few years ago that created a minor following; "All your base are belong to us." I've been on the other side of that coin, too.

All the best, Stan

Reminds me of the warning decal on the China built motor on my little metal cutting band saw.
"Cauition, volt of wrong volt, this motor will broken ! " I have to chuckle every time I think about poor old Wong trying to translate his Chinese thoughts into English. What old Wong was trying to say is that if you connect this little 120V sucker to 240V,she is a gonna blow up. :)
I must not have done that, cause the thing has run great for 20 years and countless hours. Not bad for a unit that sold for $199 20 years ago and is cheaper today.
