Someone help me threw this brain dead moment we get when getting older.

If I have 2- 12V batteries and hook them together what do I get and which one is called series and which one is parallel.

1) + of one battery to - of other battery.
In other words a lead from starter to + of one battery; a jumper from - of this battery to + of other battery and then - of this battery to ground.

2) + and - of one battery to + and - of other battery
In other words both +'s hooked to starter and both -'s hooked to ground.

Man I hate getting old!!!!! !!!!

#1 describes a series connection and the result is 24 volts, the amps is no more than one of the batteries is rated at.

#2 describes a parallel connection and the result is 12 volts and the amperage of both batteries combined, more oomph or amps to last longer cranking.

Well to get 24 volts you hook + to- and then the + of one to the starter etc and the - to ground, and thats 24 volts and is called series. If you hook them + to + and - to - thats parreal and you have more amps but still 12 volts. Hope that explains it well enough
