Hi Spitz,

Did you ever get the problem with your wire feed welder figured out? I'd be surprised to find that I was the only person who was interested to learn the answer to that one.

Not yet. I want to get a pic posted of exactly what is happening so everyone knows but it seems like time is flying by. I will try to get it this weekend because it just broke the wire again.

Hi Spitz,

Wow, now that's a quick response. Even before you get the picture posted, maybe you could clarify one point. Where is the break occurring? I got the idea from your original posting that the wire is breaking inside the welder housing before it gets past the pinch rollers of the drive assembly. I think this is a crucial point because if that's the case, it rules out a whole range of possible causes.

it breaks just as it is leaving the welder and entering the sleeve on the hose.

Hi spitz,
I had the same problem with my wirefeed welder. I found that the clamp that held the end of the flexible conduit where the wire feeds into it had too much play, and it was too far from the roller.
Over time the wire had pushed the conduit even farther allowing more flex in the wire. I was able to pull the conduit to within 1/4" of the roller and I drilled a hole in the base. (I did away with the original clamp.) I strapped the conduit tight against the base with a cable tie.
