I'm gearing up to re-roof my house. I need to install a regulator on my 2 stage air compressor system to get the pressure down to the 90# the nailer calls for. Grainger had no idea what I was talking about. All the other stores I checked except NAPA only had twinkie little ones rated at 125-150#. NAPA has one starting at $62 and going up to $200+. How much should I pay for a good one, and where would you get it?

As always, I appreciate your expertize, Glenn F.

Get one with the buit-in coalescing air filter. I got My Porter-Cable at Farm & Fleet. I suspect TSC or any farm & home center, even the Big Box stores would have them. You don't need much air flow to run a nailer.

Got mine at Checkers Auto Supply several years ago. Works good especially with Air Nailers and Paint Sprayers needing a lower PSI.Good moisture collector too.Reasonable in cost also.

Look in MSC, Grainger, McMaster-Carr, etc. also look at www.surpluscenter.com as they have some from time to time.

Hi Glenn,

I have a Watts regulator I bought 5 years ago for $37.00, model R119-04C, rated at 300 psi inlet. Watts is a division of Parker Hannifin. It's a relieving style and works fine. I have never had a problem with it. Conversely, I purchased a Sharp regulator for another station a couple of years ago (forgot cost and didn't keep sales slip). That worked fine for a while but after about a year the diaphragm began to leak. And that's downstream from a filtration train down to 0.01 micron. I love the Watts but am quite disappointed with the Sharp. I probably got the Sharp at NAPA but am not sure. I got the Watts from a local industrial distributor.

we just purchased a 3/4" regulator from McMaster-Carr out of Chicago. Its made for just what you need. Cost with shipping was about $57.00.
