I'm getting ready to purchase a framing nailer ? was wondering what to look for or stay clear of?
Brands? Stick vs coil? Clipped head or not? Depth control or not? This will be used for general all around on farm construction--pole barns, calf sheds etc

I've been looking at a Hitachi either a NR83A @ $359.00 or a NR90AC @ $439.00

I've used most brands and types over the years. My preference is either Senco or Hitachi. I also like the full head nails in sticks. I can load a pouch on my tool belt with the sticks. Both of these brands are easy to clear when they jam, which is not very often. My brother in law just got a couple of the new Paslode nailers and he swears by them.

I think all the name brand nailers are about the same quality these days. It mostly depends on your preferences as to weight, balance and nail loading.

I have been very happy with the Hitachi (I forget the model number)What I like about it is that it shoots the full head hot dipped gal. nails compared to some other that shoot gal. coated nails. Mine is the stick type, don't know the differences of the two you mentioned.

I've been very happy with my Stanley-Bostich coil-type full head unit. About the same price range.
