Just bought one of these monsters last night and while I can find a reprint of the regular manual, cannot locate info on the blade sharpener that is mounted on the top of it. Anybody got a copy of the instructions for it that they would share? Or could point me to a place that would have it? I tried Powermatic website and could not locate it other than being told the 180 is not longer in production. Thanks

I am not sure which model this is. Back in 1965, we had a Powermatic planer that had worm and pinion drive on the feed rollers. The pinion was brass or bronze and was ruined. We bought a new pinion gear and it ruined in just few minutes. We did not why and abandoned the planer. I now believe that it was the 90wt. gear oil we used, the smelly kind that cars used at the time. It has additives, sulphur perhaps, that help the steel gears but will kill brass and bronze. If your Powermatic has any bronze gears, be sure to select the lube carefully.
