OT: Moving Refrigerator

Bought a used refrigerator today...I know it is not optimum, but I had to move it on it"s side. It was laying on it"s side for about 1 hour total...how long should I leave it sit upright before turning it on???

Being a 35 yr Refrig Tech....."it depends" on which way it was laid down.

If it was laid down so that the compressor oil got into the condenser coil....you may have a problem regardless of the time.

If the position was such that the oil went to the suction line, then the 24 Hr wait would apply.

If the position was such that the compressor oil did not migrate to any line or coil, you could start this up immediately.

They tell me anytime one is hauled laying down that to wait 24HR upright before plugging in.
