OT:New computer slow, why?

I know this isn't exactly tractor related but I'm not too good at computers. I just got a new HP with win XP and finally got back online. I'm still a dial up guy and this new puter is painfully slow on the net. Opening up places like this forum is slower than my old one. Andwhat is suprising is even when you go "back" to view more its slow. Sites like ebay etc are way too slow. Is ther something I'm doing wrong?

I have the same setup. Hp/win/xp. I have dial up also. I"m no computer guru by any means. I"ve had mine about 4 yrs now. It wasn"t to bad when I first got it but in the past it slowed down about 50%. Most of the problem is some of the tracking cookies affects the computors does mine anyways.

I downloaded free Ad-Aware SE. It helps on cleaning out the computor on spyware. I think the other part is I have the Norton professional. I think this even slows it down that much more?
Not sure if you done this on yours in a while I go into Hp C drive then right click 0n properties,do disk clean up then go up on tools left click, do error check, and then do a defragmentation on C drive. And see if this
helps?... I also been hearing others saying theres are slow also.
