What fertilizer is recommended for a small Sitka Spruce tree. I have some 10-10-10. Would this be OK to use? Sandy soil in Green Bay, WI.

Thanks, Glenn F.

Spikes are slow release, 16-8-8. Will not run off with the rain, or benefit the grass. Added info.

Or, do it the easy way and use Fertilizer Spikes, just use according to directions. These are pounded into the ground , and directly impact the root system. Good luck with the tree.

Sure. The preferred would be a high nitrogen, high acid fertilizer...something like 30-5-5. But, it won't hurt it if that's all you have. You might dump some epsom salts on it for the acid, vinegar will do it also. If you want to increase the nitrogen, dump a bit of household ammonia on it. Or..just go out and buy some high nitrogen, high acid fertilizer.
