Well after bidding off and on for months for a set of US made gage blocks I finally got a set for $20 yep $20 off of ebay. The guy was selling 6 sets and they were all antiques. The set I have is about 40-50 years old, Dearborn gage steel not carbide. I must have bid on 30 sets in the last 6 months. I never bid on the import China junk, New China blocks are about $100 for a set.

not familiar with a tool shop may not know what a sine table is. It's a device that has a pivot and a known distance from the pivot you raise to a specific height (with the appropriate gage blocks) which tilts the table at a precise angle. Then a work piece is clamped to this (can also be a magnetic chuck) to machine the part. Or in precision grinding, it may be a sine dresser used to dress a precise angle on a surface grinder wheel. my 2 cents, sawtooth

Now you can send them off to get them calibrated... Just Kidding.. For average shop use, even old blocks are closer tolerance than I would ever be able to measure to. Have you ever priced the Carbide or Ceramic blocks? Those are out of sight, pricewise... At the shop, I use a Chinese set of gage blocks, that I bought at a Travers Tool Co. yard sale for 50 dollars.. The wooden case was scratched up. They are plenty accurate for me...

We found that the certification cost can be more than the cost of a new set.
