Chisel Spacing

A while back I bought an 11 shank JD 100 3-point chisel to use behind my IH 826. It had 1 foot spacing between the chisels. Knowning my 826 wouldn't quite pull 11, I turned it into an 8-
shank, still with 12-inch spacing. My questions.

1) If the chisels are closer together, does the unit pull easier? Like a moldboard plow, e.g a 3-14 vs a 3-16.

2) So, assuming it does, if I decerased spacing to, say, 8 inches (or whatever), and added the three chisels back, would it pull about the same in my clay as it does now with eight?

3) The reason Why I' thinking about this is that at different times, the chsiel plow will leave ridges between the chisels. It's not a huge issue, because I go over the ground two opposing directions, but I'd like to maybe eliminate that second go-round by doing it better the first time.

4) What are, in your collective opinions, the ideal chisel plow spacings

Many thanks.
