I need a converter box on my Lincoln SA200 F163 for the DC receptacle on the welder. I want to convert the 110DC to 110 AC so that I can run other electrical equipment from the welder. I was told a "Converter Box" is available. I would appreciate any help - many thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike,

I've never seen a AC adpter for them. Have you researched the Lincoln archives? You might DL the service manual to the newer SA200 or SA400 and see just what componets are in the AC side.

You can take a common transistor based 2000w inverter and supply the amperage needed to run the inverter from the welding leads. That would be about 170amps at 24vdc or well within the SA200 capabilitys.

That would give you a modified sine wave 115vac @ 18amps and good for just about any home type appliance.

What are your going to run on the AC side?

I did a google search for "inverter 120VDC" and got several promising results. 120VDC is a common voltage for Uninterruptible Power Supplies, where a large bank of batteries provides backup to a group of important computers or communication devices...

Tools like Milwaukee drill etc.with universal wound motors will work on the DC outlet.Or install a switch and have wife flip it sixty times a second.

Gee thanks dr.sportster, but two problems:

a. I am aware that I can run anything with brushes from the welder, but I am off the grid - no AC at all.

b. I am recently divorced - real messy

If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it. I know that they used to make these conversion boxes - peace, pollock

I always bought my drills and grinders etc. so that they would run on AC or DC and of course an incondescent bulb doesn"t matter...so I never had that problem. There is such a thing as a 12 volt inverter...that takes 12 volts and goes thru and comes out as 120 AC...but I never heard of a converter for the welder. Learn something every day. Fred OH

Hi! I have exactly the same welder and the same problem- no AC power. I would like to know the answer to your question also. John L.
