Looking for a #2 or #3 Wood Screw

My sons and I have a few guitars around here. The screws on the pick guards are a bit rusty. I'd like to replace them with stainless steel, but am not able to get them. I have been to three suppliers(including Fastenal), and no one can get any that small. They are a bevel head phillips, #2 or 3, and are 1/3 inch long.

Any ideas?

By bevel head I presume you mean flat head with the bevels on the bottom side or maybe oval head with the bevels on the bottom side and a small dome on top.

McMaster-Carr (www.mcmaster.com) has flat head phillips in brass in #2 or #3. 2 x 3/8" is 92114A079 at $1.77 per 100. 3 x 3/8" is 92114A094 at $1.80 per 100. They also have flat head slotted in brass for a few pennies per 100 less as well as round heead slotted brass and zinc plated steel. But oval head and stainless steel the smallest they have is #4.

Don't know what places you have where your at but in my area theres a number of musci stores that either fix or know places that fix thing like that and they should have what you need of be able to tell you where to get them

www.grizzly.com has a section devoted to guitar parts in their catalog. I don't know for sure what they offer though.

Might also check with a few woodworker supply houses, and there are also a couple of supply houses that sell parts and kits to do it yourself guitar makers. you might do a search for "hand made music" or similar.
