Thank you all for your replies. I-R is sold by Northern, free shipping, BUT, you need a "start up kit." DeVair is the NEW name for I-R, and they are made in Canada. Gardner Denver is many $$. The best price per delivered CFM is Grizzly's Campbell Hausfeld. Anyone had one of them? I'm leaning strongly that way - 100% duty cycle, and the most CFM of all. Any and all replies most appreciated.

Hi,
Someone on here posted a compressor company call Eaton. I went ahead and spent the money on the 7.5HP 80 gallon upright. This thing is a beast and although $$. You can not beat the quality and price. They are built the old fashion way. They will paint it whatever color you want too.

We've been running a 5hp 80gal Campbell-Hausfield compressor at our carwash for 16 years with no problems. ....It was purchased from TIP (TP) in Ohio, who previously sold C-H.

This unit has a cast-iron pump, and I wouldn't consider buying a compressor with an aluminum pump. .....It also runs at a fairly slow speed, which adds to longevity and helps to keep the noise down.

A trip to Bellingham and Grizzly is always worth the drive. They have more good quality, inexpensive tools than anywhere I have found in 25 years here in the northwest.

TP has Quincy compressors - a brand I'd seriously consider if they were priced right. With frieght clear out here in the middle of nowhere, a Quincy is about $700 more that the C-H Grizzly sells. Plus, Grizzly is only 160 miles away - a nice drive and no freight. Thanks again for all the replies - I envy all of you with the many choices so close.

There are no TSC stores in the Northwest. When I'm working in the midwest, south, or east, I always go to one. I've written to TSC requesting consideration of a store in our huge agricultural area, but the response was not positive.

A startup kit contains the magnetic starter and a few other things that come standard on most other compressors. All in all, Northern with its "free shipping" and need for the kit, is several hundred dollars more than the others.

DeVair and IR are two completely different companies. DeVair are made in Canada, and are the carryover of the DeVilbiss industrial cast-iron compressors. Probably a bit better than an IR dollar for dollar.
