Any hints on buffing black rubber marks off clearcoat? Dark maroon paintjob has some scuff marks from a rubber weatherstrip collision. Doesn't have to be perfect so I'll save the deductible and buy a buffer if that will work. Thanks.

Try hand rubbing first with WD-40 and a clean cloth. Follow up with wax. May take some elbow.
good luck, jackie

Before you use the buffer, try hand rubbing it with some automotive rubbing compound -- I do not have a brand in mind. Just be careful that you don't scratch the clear. I hooked the plastic bumper on my 2005 GMC on my trailer tongue, while trying to back into my shop (not the trailer, just the pickup). I got all the black paint off, unfortunately the "collision" scratched it also. I touched it up, not really noticeable. If you have not used a buffer before, you can get into more trouble than you want. If you have actual scratches, you might have to, though. In that case you need a rotary not an orbital, as you need heat to get the scratches out.

Thanks for the help. Clear is scratched already but not too deep, it won't be perfect but body shop wanted almost $1000.
