One Tank or Two??

my air compressor final gave out but the tank is still good. it is a 60 gallon tank and the new compressor i bought is a 60 gallon is their an advantage of piping theses together or is it not worth the time?

Yes tee them together done it several years ago with two eighty gallon tanks.

If the old tank is serviceable.. I'd plumb then together.. with a ball valve in between... you get twice the air.. ( and twice the charge time ).

We had an old 60 gallon CH with a pump failure, and we bought a new 60g CH.. and did exactly this... works great.

The best use of the old tank is a dryer.

Plumb your line out of the new one to one

end of the old one ,take the air out of the

other end of the old tank. This not only gives

you more volume but acts as an air dryer

because the second tank is cooler .

YES that second tank makes a good dryer. Not as good as one of those refrigerated ones but a good poor mans. Jeffcat

Is your old tank safe to continue use? Do a thorough inspection. Old tanks can be catastrophic when they fail!

If it were me, I'd hook up both tanks with a shut-off in between. For everyday little stuff, I'd only use one tank to cut down on recovery time. If I was planning on using a lot of air (blaster, DA, etc) I'd open the valve and use both tanks.

Make sure to leave the drain open on tank #2 when not in use. Stagnant air condensates.

The more air you have the longer you can work before the compressor kicks back on, but it will also take longer for the compressor to get the 2 tanks full. I know if I had another tank I would hook it up

you will have double the volume of air. It is an advantage when running a air gun or other air tool
