What kind of trailer brake control is the best. I see one manufacturer has several types. Have a 95 chevy pu and will be pulling a flatbed trailer with two 3500lb axles, one with brakes.

I just got a Tekonsha Progigy last week and tried it once, it seems pretty good so far. It comes with a permananet bracket and also a quick release bracket - you can get another harness and bracket and use it in multiple vehicles. Cost wasn"t much more than than the other highly rated controllers.

Also another vote for the Tekonsha Prodigy, unless you want to spend a fortune. Had one in my last pickup, unfortunately let it go with the truck because the new truck came with another brand (Drawtite, I think) installed. Just towed the travel trailer a couple hundred miles, and will replace the current controller with a Prodigy the first chance I get.

Ditto on the Tekonsha Prodigy..... once they are initially set up all it takes is a small
adjustment to compensate for loaded,unloaded
conditions. CalJim

I put in an Odessey, and really like it. It was around $125.

I just installed a Tekonsha Prodigy and I love it. Pulled my neighbors trailer with it the other day and he was impressed. He has a top of the line controller from 5 years ago and he told me the technology in this new one is just unbelievable.

I don't know which brake control would be best, but you may want to check with your local DOT. Some states now require each axle to have brakes on them.

I've been selling and installing brake controls for close to 30 years.we have tried them all, from the cheapies to the high dollar computer models. For my money you can't beat a Hayes XPC with a manual remote. very easy to adjust and are nearly trouble free.
