Use the swisher tow-behind 44" rough-cut mower. I mow down multifloral rose, LONG grass, burddock, and thistle. As long as I go slow, the machine seems to eat up about anything. (except the hog wire I find now and then in the pasture) Got mine from Farm and Fleet, but they are available through Northern Tool. Mine works hard, sits for long periods of time, but I rarely have trouble getting it started from year to year. Good Luck.

In 1999 I bought a craftsman trail mower.. Was a 750$ unit that I got for about 5XX due to some apparent damage ( ended up have no damage.. )

Use dthe darn thing about once a year.. and had to rebuild the carb 3 years in a row. i ahd a carry-in service plan on it.. so it was free.. but it was a hassle.

I finally got tired of fooling with it and sold it to a coworker that needed a little more lawnmower.. and would use it regularly enough to keep the carb clean.

I only got half my purchase price out of it.. but was glad to be rid of it.

I have antique tractors that start better/easier, and with less tinkering to keep them running.

Several years ago we bought a Yamaha "TerraPro". They were only made in 1988 & 89. It has a 750 cc engine and it has a PTO that drives a 48" Woods Mowing deck. We used to cut 4 acres of pasture with it. I still use it on our lawn and around the pasture fence lines and in tight areas. They are rare but if you can find one it"ll do the job for you.
It"s a shame nobody makes a 4 wheeler like that now!
