Well a dream of mine has been partially fulfilled.
Yesterday afternoon about 3:pm my metal bdilding was completed. 30x50x12, 3 10' wide roll up doors and on walk thru. I say partially because it doesn't have electricity or anything else in it yet. That will come as we can pay for it, depleted expendable cash reserves just to get building up. Elect. wiring, insulation, put up plywood walls in work area to hang tools/cabinets on, build work benches, plumb for air service...I have a lot to do and a long time to do it....OH and a place to park my MF tractor in out of the weather.

Congrats Logan, I have wanted to build a shop for some time. Did you stick weld it or was it a pre fab kit? Either way, it takes man power to erect it. The prices have really jump up in the last couple of years. When I build mine, I"m going to add a room with a bed, shower, and a toilet so I can have some peace from all the girls in the house. No not yet, If I can sneak the digital camera out tomorrow between showers I'll try to snap a few and get them on disc and put them on Tuesday evening when I get back to work.....

Believe me guys I tried and tried but to no avail, wife just could not comprehend why I thought we needed such a BIG building, my best argument and the one that allowed me to hold on to this size was "it is awful hard to build one to big, but very easy to build one to small." That and the fact that I started off asking for one a lot bigger, you know the art of negotiation, ask for more than you want.....

I'm hoping to put up a 40X80 in the next couple of years. My wife thinks that's too big, but I already have enough to fill a space half that size if I cram it in.

The biggest thing wrong with new garages or new building is, about a year or so down the road, it won't be big enough... I have a 16 X 20 building and a 30 x 32 garage full and now looking for more space for all the good stuff we all get at the auctions and sales. Also if I could get all of the married sons stuff out of both, I could buy a lot more, would really make wife happy.

Your dimensions sound awful small, apparently nobody explained to you the percieved size to actual size continueum, Even Einstein never got a handle on this one. The formula is quite complicated and the answers (multiple) only manifest themselves over time. But the main cruxt of the equasion involves the primary factors as follows:
1. Dear where can we put this till after the party?...
2. Wow what a deal! I'll fix that up when I get a chance!
3. It should only take a month or so to restore...
4. Dad where can I put my bike?
5. Dear, child____ needs to put some of her things in storage for a week or 2 or....
Hence we find the total sum of this equasion equals not a number value, but another manifestation of Stuff expands to consume all available space X a variable multiple of 2.5.
Some have conjectured that this is a high level conspiracy on the part of large building material suppliers, as once a storage building is started, it is never completed, only expanded.

It's great to have a place to do things. I finisned putting mine up about 2 months ago. I built a 20 by 30 at the back of my place. The wife said it had to away from the house. I will tell you that running the elect. is not cheap. I had to run about 175 feet and it coust me around $350 just for the wire. It's good that it can do the work myself. Good luck with your building. Where in Texas are you, I am in Sweetwater.

Yep. And don't forget to hang a sign that says "You're welcome to use anything you'd like, put put it back exactly where you found it, even if it was setting in the middle of the floor".

I go nuts when someone does me favors and cleans or moves stuff around in the barns or tool crib. I don't care what they do to the house, garage, or anything inside the fence around the house, even paint it all purple if they want, but when they get into a barn, crib, or a pasture...leave it how and where you found it. "Where's the wrench I just had laying over there?"...and I get "Wrench? What's a wrench? I saw something-or-other lying over there and put it inside a box and slid it under...". ARGGGGG GH!!!
