You might go to a welding supply business and check their prices. That would give you a place to start.

If there stolen, then I hope someone gets caught while selling and buying them!

I would not presume that the folks on this discussion had stolen property to sell, there are other ways to have welding rods that you don't know the value of. For one they could have been part of a lot at an auction. I have followed this list for a while and have been impressed with the knowledge you have T bone, you don't seem like the type of person to do this. Maybe you meant this in fun. Of course if they are stolen, well I agree with you.

Aluminum welding rod is kinda expensive. It should be in good condition and not have the flux falling off as in old rod. I assume it is stick welding rod. You might call your local welding supply and ask for price quotes in 1, 5 and 10 pound containers and price it about 1/2 of that.
PS I won't call him T_Bone_Head cause I told him I wouldn't cut him too deep. (grin) L8R----Fred OH

Hi Tom, Fred, Looks like I should have given this post some more thought before clicking enter.

My thoughts were, he could be buying stolen rod, not selling it, as welding rod for sale in the secondary market just doesn't come up but once in a blue moon and very hard to get rid of.

Hi T_Bone from Fred,
You can't buy used welding rod as they would be a bunch of little stubs (grin), but unused rod can be purchased if you know where to look. Bridge welding crews usually have good sealed in the box (metal) 5/32" low hydrogen (dated stuff) and must be used by the date on the box. The last I bought was at a local flea market, six 50# boxes of Hobart for around $50 It's legitimate and cheap, just outdated. Works for me. L8R----Fred OH
