Due to all the confusion you are getting, I'd go to the Copper tube handbook, published by Copper.org and see what it has to say. It will list what solders and brazes can be used in what combinations of fittings for what psi limits and for what sizes of tube, etc. Very through.

I'm not trying to rile anybody,I'm also in the trade and have repaired to many leaks.I didn't say always,either-just my experiance/opinion.Silver solder has been used a long time, then a shift to brazing using an alloy as a stronger weld. With pressures going up more important than ever.Manufacturers (maybe not all)guidelines are asking for 5-6% or 45% silver alloy.
