I have been give an older (but in nice shape) Pioneer "Partner 400" chain saw. It is yellow in color and for some reason has "Made In Sweden" on the yellow plastic shrouding. I know that Pioneers in the early 70's were made by the Outboard Marine Corporation (same as Johnson outboards I think). Here are some questions:

1. Is this really a Pioneer-made saw or did someone else make it (eg. Husqvarna or Stihl, etc)?

2. When did the Pioneer brand disappear from the market?

3. Is there any source of obsolete parts for this saw? The automatic oiler is not working and I'd like to find something to get it working again.

Pioneer was bought out by Partner. Made in Sweaden and Germany last I knew. They still make one He---l of a chop saw but not a chainsaw for export. You may need a contact in Europe to get stuff. I was lucky about four years ago to find an old dealer and was thrilled to pay eight bucks for a bar adjuster and screw for a model 1000. It is 6hp of screamin beasty. Hope I helped. Jeffcat

this really stretches the old memory but I think Pioneer was a Canadian brand & in the early "80s Electrolux Corp.(Jonsared, Husqvarna & Partner)bot numerous small Companies out & kept the old names for a while. Auto oilers are pretty standard & any dealer for those brands should be able to get it.

I'm curious to find this out. We've got a big ol' honkin' one (partner) sitting up in the barn that needs a gasket of some kind for the fuel tank. I did some work on it years back when I took a small engine mechanic's course and it ran like a beast but leaked like a sieve. I'm curious to see if parts are still available. Good luck with your results.
