Looks like I may need to replace my 25 year-old Makita soon. It just doesn't turn the rpms while cutting that it used to. I never have liked the clamp on it. Does anybody have any useful info. on buying a new one?

i have went thru several over the years,Milwaukee,Dewault,Jepsen,Makita. Whe the last unit locked up I went to a bandsaw instead. Best move I ever did in the shop, love it and wouldn't go back to the chopsaw again. Or as buddy in shop nicknamed them the burnitsaw

I hardly ever use our chop saw anymore, I think it's been about close to a year since it's been used. I bought a Milwaukee deep cut hand held bandsaw and with a little practice I can cut just as accurately with it as a chop saw and the blade doesn't get smaller as you cut.

I have a chop saw that I use for cutting metal. I don't use it too often, but I think it is about 4 or 5 years old and still cuts as good as it ever did, which is a whole lot better than I could ever cut with a hand grinder or hack saw.

I bought it on sale at Harbor Freight for about $60. I also have bought several abrasive blades for it for $5 or $6 apiece.

I don't know if this tool would be good enough for me if I was trying to make a living doing metal fabrication, but for what I use it for, the HF saw is perfect. Sure handy to have when I need it. I could never justify the cost of one of the name brand models....

You might want to look at what HF is selling--might save some money. Good luck!

The saw is in the HF ad that came in the mail today "on sale" for $49.99 and the blades for $2.99. That is less than I paid for the saw when I bought it. Not a bad deal!

My Delta Sidekick 12" CMS saw has done a great deal of both rough and very fine work. On a job I used a Makita 10" sliding CMS. While I liked its wide cuts and accuracy, I found its long slides a bit too fragile for the rough-and-tumble life in a pickup truck. When it came time to buy one of my own, I went with the Delta and have no complaints.

I've used a Milwaukee 14" for the last twenty or more years, and it still works like new.

My Ryobi slowed a bit so I cleaned the brushes and commutator bars and it is new again.
