Metric fittings are quite common on industrial process equipment and on foreign made industrial machines. Look at www.hoseandfittings.com or look for a supplier that handles Parker fittings.

Look at a Claas dealer. Claas machines use all metric hyraulic fittings.

Don't know where your at but you can call Custom Hydraulics in Charlotte, NC. Their number is 704-347-0023. Ask for Adam or Mike or Kelly. I know they carry a limited supply if various metric style fittings in the store but because of the high costs involved and, the shear number of different fittings they can't afford to carry alot on hand. Still they can order anything you need and have it fairely quickly. Good luck.

Me neither, on anything. But this post has me thinking. I needed to grease some zerks on a tractor this last weekend, and do you think that I could find any one single grease gun? Nope, but are at least two of them somewhere that will show up eventually. My local parts store and gun shop was closed, so for a change went to Walmart for shells and a grease gun. Got home, put the tube in, put it on the first zerk, filled it with grease, and then had to fight to get the tip off of the zerk. Twisted, tilted, and thought the zerk was going to break off with as hard as I was twisting and pulling, but it came off eventually. Had about 20 to do, and faught getting that darn thing off each and every last one. I never saw anything like it in my life. I weigh 240 and could've hung from each zerk if were facing down and up high enough. I'm thinking that he's referring to the hole being tapped for metric, I can't imagine anything else about a zerk or gun being metric, or metric at all. I gotta find my others, and that one's gotta go, or get a new tip. I got it from Walmart and figure its Chinese without looking first, and figure they do things to the stuff we buy just to make our lives rough for a laugh.

On a similar note about grease guns, 2 years ago I found a grease gun in the feild that jumped out of the toolbox on the chopper the year before. We've got 4 or 5 guns around the gfarm, but seems like only 2 work at a time.

Brake service suppliers for HEAVY trucks usually can match any fitting or provide a suitable adapter.

This site has descriptions.
Go to the hydraulics catalog/adapters for more info

BSP is the same as NPT, like lots of thing from the UK, they and us have a different name for them.

BSP is NOT the same as NPT. They have a slightly differant pitch. ie 11 tpi vs 11 1/2 tpi etc

You're right Joe.

In addition, there are two variants of BSP threads:
BSP = British Standard Pipe (Threads) (Where pressure-tight joints are made on the thread) - This is a tapered thread, like the NPT or US Pipe Thread.

BSPP = British Standard Pipe (Threads) Parallel Where pressure-tight joints are NOT made on the thread (requires an o-ring, gasket, or conformable washer to make seal.

The thread pitch is the same, so the tapered and parallel forms of BSP will mate. You must be careful to specify / pick the correct part to obtain your intended seal.

Nope, never heard of metric hydraulic fittings before. Maybe on cars, but not on machines.
