Shingle cutter question

It's difficult to cut the new laminated shingles with a utility knife. I've seen two shingle cutters advertised, a Shingle Shark and a Shingle Shear 2001. The Shingle Shear uses replacement blades at $30 each. Supposed to be good for less than 300 sq.
The Shingle Shark has no mention of replaceable blades. Can anyone comment on these "must have" tools?
Since they both sell for about $300 and resemble a heavy duty paper cutter, why can't I use an old paper cutter till it gets dull and replace it with another old one? There's also a guy selling plans on ebay to make your own shingle cutter. I wonder where he expects one to get the knife assembly.
