I'm chipping away at this wiring, insulating, finishing off project. My shop is small(22x34), with not an inch to waste. I am installing Many florescent fixtures in the 8' ceiling. In lighting the side walls, how close to the ground should the lights be? I'll be using 4' 2 bulb fixtures here. The shop is used for welding, mechanical, carpentry, etc.

In my shop [30 X 36 ] I mounted 20 of the 4 ft. 2 bulb fixtures on the 8 ft. ceiling in 3 switches. Also 1 unit over each workbench just high enough to clear my head. 6ft, 2" H T H

You only have an eight foot ceiling. Put the fixtures as high as you can get them. You'll welcome the clearance.
