oil additives

hi, i wanted to know what u guys recomend for an oil additive in a diesel engine the has noisy lifters. thanks

I agree with all here. Using an oil additive to quiet lifters is not the answer. After adjusting the lifters to specs, if you want to put in an additive to do something like decrease engine wear or improve fuel economy, you could try Lucas brand. I have heard great stuff about it.

I agree with the others.. No liquid in a can will fix adjustment problems. As for addatives.. About the only one I would add to a diesel is Power Service Lube oil extender..

yea, hard to tell noisy lifters from normal engine clatter. I'd follow the manufacturer's instructions for re-lashing the valves and call it good. Marvel Mystery Oil in the fuel, but nothing but diesel rated 15w40 oil in the crankcase. One man's opinion.

Diesel with noisy lifters? Adjust the mechanical lifters to service specifications. No additive needed. Just my $.02
