Is there an easy way to remove old concrete from shovels, rakes, mixers, etc?

Echo the muratic acid. Easy to get, easy to work with. It's what concrete companies use. Or you could do the chip, chip, chip thing..... ..

Try soaking them overnight in a bucket of vinegar solution. One gallon of white vinegar to three gallons of water in a five gallon bucket. It's cheaper than wd 40 or diesel. The acid will react with the portland cement. When you're done dry and oil them right away.

Hi Sam,

A masonry grinding wheel or wire wheel on an angle grinder does a neat job without exposing you to anything but high speed debris, lung damaging dust, and dangerous noise levels. Muriatic acid, on the other hand, is unsafe.

I wont say it is easy but desiel fuel will help soften up old concrete on tools. WD 40 will help also. You still need to scrape it off. Works for me anyway. I would you can do some damage to tools by chipping on tools covered with concrete.

The easiest of course is keep them clean to start with. I clean my mixer by putting water, and a shovel or two of stone and turining it on awhile. I often put my tools into the mixer while doing this to clean them too. I think the only way clean a tool is a hammer to chip and scrape at it. The easiest for a shovel is to hit it against a hard surface.
