I haven't found a good washer in years. I now use o-rings. Haven't lost or worn one out yet.

You CAN still get hose washers of the correct size, and maybe even made in America too. Just NOT at those places; PRICE is their driving motivation. So what if the washers don't fit? they were only $.02 each, so kwitcherbitchen. Go to your local hardware store and pick up some a' them REAL hose washers. Yeah, you might have to pay almost $.50 for a couple, but so what? They'll fit and they'll work. Better yet, get a little jar of that 'plumber's grease' and put a tiny dab on the washer when you install it.

I check the 'Made in' label these days, and if I have a choice, even if it's more $$, I choose USA first, and anything NOT from China second. Taiwan, Korea (South), Singapore, Indonesia, and India (among others) are still our friends and have a semblance of a free market, so doing business with them doesn't feel too wrong. But China's business is wholly and completely owned by the government, which is an avowed enemy of the United States. How so many companies get away with aiding and abetting the gutting of the American manufacturing base is beyond me; Iraq and Iran are punk-a44 chumps compared to the long-term harm China is inflicting on the free world.

Whoa, the altitude on this soapbox is making me dizzy. Stepping down now...

Peace Y'all,

c.

Since all he world is supposed to be metric, maybe the Chinese think we use metric sized hose.

It's probably just like everything else that comes from China, the product would be good, but no one knows anything about quality control. They don't understand that stamping dies will wear out of tolerance, and they don't know that a cutting die will get dull and while it may still cut, it sure won't be accurate. I think the Chinese mostly still carry water in wooden buckets, the more modern thinking citizens might use bamboo pipes, but all they know about garden hose is that it gets sent to the gullible people in the U.S.
